To 'boutiquify' is to create the feeling of a boutique in ones wardrobe. But how does one who has never boutiquified before, boutiquify their wardrobe space? Well I'm glad you asked. Here are my seven tips for giving your wardrobe the boutique feel:
REMOVE anything that you would not use to get ready in the morning or for a night out. Everything from old documents, to photo albums, to teddy bears, your vacuum cleaner, bottles of wine - it all needs to go! Your wardrobe should be purely for storing your clothes, shoes and accessories.
FOLD your denim and knitwear. Nothing screams boutique like a pile of folded knits! And they are likely to retain shape for a lot longer, than if they were to be hanging in your wardrobe. Stack your denim from darkest on the bottom, to lightest on top.
DECORATE with accessories! Dont be afraid to layout your statement jewellry or hang some scarves or your favourite bag. Compliment with some personal touches such as a photo frame, scented candle or vintage book. You can also store cosmetics, beauty products or hair care in decorative storage boxes to eliminate clutter and add a touch of glam throughout.
MATCH all of your coat hangers. But please don't rush out and spend a fortune on wooden hangers. The plastic ones are durable and double as space savers. I would, however, invest in wooden or padded hangers for heavy coats and delicate dresses if needed.
COORDINATE colour! When it comes to your tops, pants, skirts and dresses, sort by style and then by colour. This will make it easier to get dressed, as you will have a clearer perspective of what is hanging in your wardrobe. And it will look pretty too, and isn't that really why we're doing this?
ARRANGE your shoes! Line them up like little soldiers if you will. This will mean removing all shoe boxes and sorting by style, colour and height. You want to be able to see what you have, in order to pick out the right pair. And besides, what girl (or guy) doesn't want to be staring at their pretty shoes all day?
And of course the seventh and final tip is to give me a CALL and I can do it for you with the Gold Threads Wardrobe Overhaul.
So there you have it, my tips and tricks for boutiquifying your wardrobe! Enjoy your space!
